Hey testing a cgtalk scene. It's a wip so don't mind the quality.
Got one version with a area light in the window.
In another version I light up the room with skylight. This lights up the room but produce very weak shadows. Specially the sphere on the left on the wall. Any ideas how to make them stronger and still use skylight?
Photon multiplier is 1.0, 12 bounces. Both scenes has a sun light.
Turn off CI (Cached Irradiance) and you should see the shadows.
otherwise if you want the speed of CI, keep lowering Spatial tolerance and Distance Min until you see the shadows. And I mean low, I've been using Spatial tolerance = 0.01 and Distance Min = 5.0% although I've never seen anyone on these forums go that low. I just need to have as many small shadows as possible! =)
here's my result after some tweaking. hard to get nice result and low render times when pushing edge absolute .. in this one i'm using 0.07
by the way if silvermannen, jure or any other betatester is reading.
when using catmull i get black lines:
using quadric gives me a whole black image after antibanding.
And another version with caustics enabled.
Luminosity modell "Automatic" enabled so the brighter luminous object gets rendered as "direct".
I like the precision of direct mode.
