Re: Polished pre-render pass possible?

Hi Jure,

I'm aware of what you're saying and I'm not complaining about the way Kray works - in fact, I love it! :-)

What I am asking if there is a way to get nice beauty shots of the pre-render pass out of Kray, because I like the look of that pass.

Thx!

Polished pre-render pass possible?

Hi! I often find myself thinking: wow, that pre-render pass looks beautiful! I really like the look of everything in white, with some color-bleed that seems to come from nowhere putting delicate color gradients on surfaces and volumes. So, I'm wondering: is there a way to get this pass out of Kray? ...

Re: Abstract Chome Test

For your information, the chrome material is of course super-simple. Actually, all I have been playing with is the very very outer rim of the sphere (so the 85 to 90 degrees glancing angle), to see if the contours of the sphere shape came out best with the reflection turned way up, or down. The diff...

Abstract Chome Test

Hi There, I've been a happy Kray user for a year now, and I'm always sad that I can't post my work in the gallery due to NDAs with clients.. So all I can post are tiny tests like this one. It's just a simple simple room, and mainly just some work to come up with a good chrome material in LW's old ch...

Re: Good fresnel settings - incidence angle gradient

Hey Jure! Thanks for the material, and also thanks for reminding me that the special LW-material nodes work in Kray. I keep forgetting this, and to be honest I do much prefer working without nodes somehow. I guess I feel safer using my old methods :-) Also, the old LW-channels are much easier to wor...

Good fresnel settings - incidence angle gradient

Hi people, I'm looking for good gradient incidence angle materials to make some quality materials - actually, I'm trying to achieve a v-ray style look, but even just putting a chrome and shiny plastic sphere in a white room doesn't look as good, and I think it has to do with my incidence angle gradi...

Re: lighting this room

I don't know what size you're rendering at but a render like that shouldn't take more than a minute one medium setting for 1000 x 500 pixels - give or take a bit, but 19 minutes, no. Maybe you have a liiiiiiittle bit of (blurry) reflection on all your white walls? If so, just set this to zero. Then ...

Re: interior work

Wow Nico! That's impressive to me. If you did this in one day, then I should be the one getting comments from you, and not the other way around!! Anyway, that's always the problem with critiqueing other people's work: you never now how much time there was, or what the budget was, or what the client ...

Re: interior work

Hi there! Very nice work, but some constructive critique: the floor looks weird. If it is marble then it would be very smooth and hard stone with some imperfections in some places. You have a reflection that is perfect all over, doesn't fade with the fresnel angle of incidence (or not enough), and h...

Re: Nordic center Planica

Wow! Amazing work! Congratulations! I like the fast camera motions in a way, because they make the movie very dynamic and inspiring. The problem is that they are so perfectly smooth that they indeed give away the 3D nature of the images, which gives the whole scene a feel of looking at a scale model...

Very nice! What software or technique did you use for the 'chromatic abberation' flare in the bottom right of the image?

Re: What improvements would you like to see in Kray next?

Strange.. That's exactly the reason why I don't need nor desire alpha channels in Kray. I can do that in vanilla Lightwave. I'd prefer Kray to develop strengths in areas where LW doesn't already have the functionality.

Re: New render ...

Hi! I like the image, it looks good, but somehow it appears 'flat' in some areas (around the pool), more like a collage than an image with depth. Maybe a slight blur on the chair in the foreground and tree in background, and a more natural-feeling edge between the pool and it's surroundings would he...

Re: Aluminum Extrusion Catalog

Amazing renders, and a very nice and convincing argument for using Kray! You should do something like that 'the 3rd and the 9th' arch-viz video as an ad for Kray - well you don't have to of course, but I would thoroughly enjoy seeing some of your quality work, if these were just done i a hurry. Thom...
