Newbie question

I recently was turned to Kray for its animation support capabilities. I do a lot of 3D Max and Sketchup modelling. I apologize in advance if my questions seem too basic. I just want to learn.

Would I be able to bring my Max or SU models into KRay? Specifically for the animation feature? I am not pleased with either one's output as far as animation. KRay seems to be what I've been looking for.
I don't need LW do I? I'm simply wondering if I would be able to use KRay in my workflow (modelling in Max and SU)

Sorry for such a simplistic question. I'm trying to become aquainted.

Kray is, at the moment, only available as a plugin for Lightwave. You cannot run it without it.
