I was wondering how to go about using an object that uses multiple alpa maps in instancing?
Normally for trees I use a clip map for leafs, but when a tree has for example 3 (or more) type of leafs.
For only one object I would cut the object in layers with a clip map for each object layer.
But in this way I don't know how to easily use instancing.

Re: Multiple clip map instancing
I think is no way to so that. Also the best way to cut surfaces is Clip Map.
You must use one clip map for whole tree ...and this is enough.
If you want different leafs (fractions of color, brightness) it can be done very easy by Nodes - soon will upload this surface. This Nodes allow , automatically (by ID Instance - as we know, each one has a unique number) make some differences between trees. To make differences in color/brightness in the same tree is quite difficult - it must be done by special plugin in Modeler which select groups, region with different weight map value and this weigh map with fractions can be use in Node - then one tree will have also different colors/brightness (read: Autumn case)
If tree contain two or more names of UV maps leaf then it must be merge under Modeler.
I suggest use ONLY Clip Maps.

Thx for answer, problem is some shrubs with flowers I would like to use, shrub is one object but contains different leafs and different flowers (layers) so not possible to use only one clipmap. So I guess cloning hierarchie is only option.

Re: Multiple clip map instancing
Yes I know problem. Only solution is use Clip map for leafs and rest alpha map.
But this will affect buffers....
...there is solution: make one map for leaf and flowers in Photoshop (I did that once) and one UV map.

Re: Multiple clip map instancing
That could be solution but is much work i guess also because model ok is at is now.
Thx for answer.

Is not that much (10 min total?...you can sacrifice 2 cigarettes breaks )...and you do it only once.AVLKray wrote:That could be solution but is much work i guess also because model ok is at is now.

Re: Multiple clip map instancing
I have lots of objects and some are quite difficult with lots (>10) different alpha maps,
and i don't smoke btw
