For the lighting I tend to use lumipanels for the general mood and add one or two arealights if I want better shadows for the object I want to focus.
The curtain material is really simple one, maybe you can use it as a base to make aomething better.
Generally for the materials I think Janusz has posted in the past some very useful advices that can point to the right direction.
