What Is Kray? Ok we all know renderer

Post by stjepanovic »

If Kray is similar to FPrime how does it comparet to Fprime in terms of speed, and quality. I know FPrime was originally created as a real Viper type tool, a preview tool. Eventually the quality imporved so sometimes you can used as a final reneder. But it flawlesly ingrates within LW original GUI Interface and functions. On other hand, Kray competes with very own LW renderer. How does it work within LW and is it compatible with 9.3.1 or 9.5? Also what are speed test results for Kray. Does it use physical model for lighting like Maxwell and how does it work with panels and tools available in Lightwave (for exmple camera)? thank you very much

It's not really all that similar to fprime.

It has a panel with a variety of kray specific settings. It supports a lot of Lightwave features (the goal is to make it as compatible as possible). It works with LW 9.3.1. I wouldn't know about 9.5 cause it's not out yet but once it is, it will be supported.
Kray is fast, but I'm not sure what kind of an answer you're expecting by asking for "speed test results". Take a look here : http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread ... 754&page=3

You can use 3rd party procedural textures for environment like sunksy which are based on the same papers that maxwell's physical sky implementation is.
