Strange textures in animation

Post by aci »

Hello !

I've just made an animation test with K-Ray and I've some problems with some flicking textures... (walls, ...)
Has someone got any idea to help me ? I send you the video and Kray settings in attachment.
Thanks !

Yan.

Hi Aci,

That's exactly what I have in my animation too.. I am not sure whether it is due to many nodes or what.. but I tried quite a few things now and the only situation I didn't see it when 3 nodes rendered a smallish part of the anim. (which was terrible before in the full anim)

Don't know what is causing it but tried suggestions by Jure, NiGMa and Direwolf.. all had it..

hmm, i haven't seen that error before, especially those gradient squares on the sides.

But the photons look like they are not being used from the previous frame, i checked your save file and you had gi mode set to independant, it needs to be on shared for all frames.

Also, it seems like you are using a really high number of photons, i've never had to use so many for a simple scene like yours.

Also, kray is very picky with the model, it needs to b a clean mesh. From memory, only have 3 or 4 point polys, no non-planar polys, simple surface configurations, no unchecked surface layers, no overlapping polys and completely water tight corners. Also keep surfaces less than 100% diffuse relfection, which is a combination of diffuse, lum, transparency i think.

Also, see if you get the error when you tick the check box in kray called overide surfaces, you could have overlapping polys.

I hope some of this helps.

It certainly helped when you posted a vid, Jahun, you should post a small vid of yours up too. =)

It looks like GI file was not used at all in your animation. Are you rendering on single machine?

Thank you !

Thanks a lot !
Yes, I render on a single machine... but in "independant" !!!
I'll try to render the animation with "shared for all frames" but in "load", "save" or "both" ?...

Use BOTH.
For more explanations on the three modes search this forums...
