first kray WIP

Post by done »

I got a little ambitious and decided to finally learn kray on a project, im doing some high res test renderings and mucked about in PS a bit so i decided to share it with you guys. Big thanks to all the people here, and the devs for their hard work, you rock! :)

Some details:
Original res is 5464x3072 rendered in 2:40h,
Textured enviroment is Sunsky + area light@140%; inv dist; power shader 600/9;
photon power 0.5
quasirandom AA 0.01/10/50 . mitchell
edge 0.2/0.2
undersample 16
Exponential @ 3.8/1

Plant leaves are mostly QMC min10/max0
Grass is by Johhny, i upped the translucency a bit (maybe too much).

PS is some general/local color correction and added some ivy in two places.

Comments and suggestions are most welcome obviously :)

Looks great !

the chromatic camera aberration is just fine, not too much, not too little, perfect for my taste, the colors and contrasts are awesome too, as well as the vegetation

congrats !

Nice images. You could work a bit more on some surfaces like wood but all in all it's pretty nice.

I was just wondering if anyone had a suggestion on how to get a nice alpha out of this, straight alpha of this render is full of recursion errors or something, having holes in it where some of the trees are.

Turn to raytracing mode, use matte color on all your object to separate them from BG.

Ty :)

Any chance kray surface override would be enough?

Good job! I like the light. I think you overdid the DOF on the trees though. You must use DOFpro to get good dof!

keep it up!

Yea i got stuck with the PS lens blur for the DOF, i didnt try dof pro as of yet, my PS is on a mac i got an older one on a pc though. Fiddling with double size for Zpass and bluring and stuff doent help PS lens blur much.

Umm, most of the plants are models, clipped leaves mostly, my RAM got eaten up so i couldnt afford much more geometry than this.
The car, well... "someone" wished for that particular one so... :)
As for the lighting, it didnt change from the details in the first post, not much to add, it seems standard enough... i played with the settings in johnnys grass 2.0.
