now i don´t understand i´ve one scene with hd instance that works fine and other that does not work.
it´s not cloning with nulls and rename, it´s pure hd instance with cloning objects over points.
Hmmm .. First of all, is this a feature or an accident?
Secondly, how does it compare with the instancing in Kray (not feature-wise, I own both and am aware of the features, but speed-wise)
Has anyone else found this to be the case? It's fascinating.
There are certainly some things about HD I which are nice, random mixing + placement etc, however I was always annoyed to own 2 3rd party instancing solutions that were mutually exclusive.
Kray and HD instance have been working well for me for quite some time now.
Remember, it's not really HDinstance, it's Kray using the placement settings of HDInstance to make its own clones. So its exactly as fast as kray's native instancing.

Oh this is with HDI 2
That's not completely true. KRay IS rendering real HDinstance volumetrics not Kray instances. We have tried to talk with the HDi developer to make it work like you said, but mr. Fyffe seems to be very slow in responding to our emails...
