Kray.exe is the renderengine developed here. If you want it you have to buy it. Probably you can turn the check for Kray of in BNR.

Kray.exe is a standalone version of kray. It is no longer developed. If you want to render LW scenes with Kray over a network with BNR you also need VirtualRender from TrueArt -> http://www.trueart.pl/?URIType=Director ... tualRender

Actually Grzegorz could sell you a version of Kray.exe. It has the same core as the LW version but is compiled differently. Compiling it is no big deal at all I believe.

I'm sure he won't supply it though, because it doesn't have any current documentation. I'm not sure how it works with BNR and LW. I have a fairly recent version, and I use it quite a lot, but not with LW or BNR. It works with plain text scripts and has no UI. There are some things which take a bit of getting used to to get the same results as LW.

To be honest AFAIK, the only person that knows about this is GT himself, and he doesn't have time to support it.

thanks for all the infos.
it's just bugging me to always pay for this or that to make it work (extra tools that are not included in the main package). The network support must be coded in kray and sold with kray.

Now to render on the network I have to pay again.... When you buy vray, finalrender, mentalray, renderman... It's a complete package.

Why don't you merge the 2 pieces of code and sell it as one product.
imagine that Trueart stop the development of virtualrender ? It must be a feature of kray, not supported by an external plugin done by other developpers

Hey, mk!

There's no need to pay for Kray.exe. Just send email to Grzegorz and he'll compile kray.exe for you...

About network rendering:

the bigest hurdle to overcome is LW's SDK. If that doesn't allow network rendering to 3rd party renderers then we'll think of some kind of workaround. It is not planned for Kray 1.7 though.

You don't need kray.exe for that.
