I would like the shadows to be smoother. What did you use as light?

I used linear light. I make a test with an area light to see the difference between the two lights.

Why not use the IES lights for it? If it's halogen lamp, the effect you're after is damn easy to achieve with proper IES...

I could of course be wrong, but aren't IES lights in Lightwave simply spheres with an image in the transparency channel casting shadows? In other words, you could stick a spot light in it with a soft angle, and get Kray to render it with soft shadows.
