Interior - WIP
I just thought I'd start a WIP thread here to keep me motivated to finish this image.
Rendertime was huge, but that's because I just put everything on high (and then some) and left for the night.
I hope to update it later today or tomorrow...

Thanks
Small update, I added a couple of things (and also removed some by mistake).
I just have to figure out what to do with the window (yes, I'll probably add some image to be visible a bit from the outside, but after I'm finished) and add more models (slowly but surely...)...
Rendertime was about 2hours on a macbook pro (running windows on bootcamp), but the original resolution was 1280x700 with higher settings on everything than what was needed. Test renders with low settings take less than two minutes (usually one). When I tried to optimize the settings (which is something I have no idea how to do :p ) I was getting respectable renders with rendertimes around 6-7 minutes.
PS: How do I add that black bar at the bottom of the image that displays the render time, kray version, and specs?
PS2: I blurred the shadows on the translucent surface in front of the window, using photoshop (which is the only tweak I did with photoshop, other than color/contrast/sharpening adjustments), anyone has any idea how to do that with lightwave/kray?

For the time bar at the bottom click on the "Add" next to header commands on general tab. There you can choose this command: renderinfo '%kray %ver %time'
Thre is blur, saturation and postprocess command in kray. There's also a black and white colors multiplier "postprocess gamma,1.4" and "postprocess mult,(3,3,3)" for example but it's not documented yet so you'll have to play with the values to see how it works.

I'll post a bigger image the next time I update it, which will probably when I'm close to be finished which I hope to be soonMario wrote:Can you post a bigger image?

Thankszent wrote:The wall on the right hand side looks like photo quality. Is this a sky dome spot setup up or LW background and spot? Nice work.

There is a spotlight and the background uses skylight.p. It's more or less the setup mentioned in Jure's Kray tutorial, with a few tweaks here and there.
Did a render with cache irradiance off, mainly to see if some shadow errors I was getting would disappear (they did), but as a bonus I got some extra shading details.
Did some post work (colors, gamma, curves etc) and added something visible outside the window (although barely visible, and I don't like it at all, but anyway).
I will add some more models and I guess I'm almost done with this image.

This looks realy great!
I've added short uncached render tip to "Tips and tricks" here: http://www.kraytracing.com/forum/viewto ... =2896#2896

good to see that people now also discover this for stills (animation I have yet to try) Even with the extra rendertime it can battle with the longer setup time for cached irradiance, it's like fire and forget. I showed in a number of threads it gets FPrime-like renders in way less time than FPrime with same quality of contact shadows as monte carlo. Many vray renders use this technique.
