Re: Interesting ...
No nodes? Same here, I'm also have no idea how nodes work. But it was indeed a powerful tools in creating realistic software.
Re: Interesting ...
Guys, don't be afraid of nodes, I was back in 2009 but I jumped in progressively. First, just do you reflexion with nodes, then Colors, and so on.
LightWave is nice enough to let you use both systems simultaneously.
Once you get comfortable, try more and more things then you'll be killer, no doubt.
It looks more scary than it actually is.

Re: Interesting ...
Please search at the forum my post with my Nodes system. I do not use shaders there so is not difficult to use it. There is solution where is impossible to do some parts in standard LW setup: Normal map transformation, colour tool (the most important!), blur map reflection, fresnel connected with diffuse in Auto Mode.
I repeat again: is no solution to do good renders without Nodes. Kray engine render is very physically (more then you imagine) and from my tests between Maxwell and Kray is not big difference. Maxwell is King if we talk about accuracy.
Using Nodes from LW, Kray with QMC solution (in K3 perhaps we will use new Final Gathering engine instead of QMC), physical behaviour of surfaces, good post process and no crazy tricks in scenes - You will enter to really HQ zone.
