WiP, Church of light - Oska, Japan
took decision to show my free project, because I am stuck in one place and I would like to receive some advices.
Renders are from animation in After Effect (without motion blur, which is OFF, some DoF`s are just for test). Frames were export as static pictures and film strips effect were added in Photoshop.
These are just some parts from whole animation. Animation frames in AE have status preview...so these are just work frames without (not finished) post process.
I am thankful to Elvin Aliyev (elvin dot arc at gmail dot com) for sharing his modeling .
Exporting from V-ray, remodeling scene, texturing, lighting and composition are my production.

Really nice. I think chromattic abber is a bit strong.
Why you never post at newtek forum? You can get more feedback and also kray gets good publicity

Really nice light, texture, but DOF is a way too strong to me.
The quality is awesome man!!! We can telle that you master the beast pretty well!

Thank You. Btw DoF , there will be dynamic DoF in animation with keyframes, so is hard to say is hard or softkhan973 wrote:Really nice light, texture, but DOF is a way too strong to me.

I completely feel you, but to have this kind of DOF on certain images, you need to be quite far with a Macro Lens and it wouldn't create such perspective (more flat)
That's why it doesn't create a realistic feeling on an optic point of view.
But everything else is just perfect. Always inspiring

DOF depends also on aperture size, so with a very good lens that has large aperture you can get very shallow DOF.khan973 wrote:I completely feel you, but to have this kind of DOF on certain images, you need to be quite far with a Macro Lens and it wouldn't create such perspective (more flat)

...just trust me, please. I know how deal with DoF pro and Z-buffer from Kray togetherkhan973 wrote:I completely feel you, but to have this kind of DOF on certain images, you need to be quite far with a Macro Lens and it wouldn't create such perspective (more flat)

Lol, I didn't say you don't know how to deal with it TECHNICALLY, but it doesn't mean that it respects optical laws.Janusz Biela wrote: ...just trust me, please. I know how deal with DoF pro and Z-buffer from Kray together
I do a lot of photography and have pretty good lenses (aperture 1.4) and there is no way you can get that.
Because DOF is also related to distance. With 24mm lens, aperture 1.4, if you point something that is 2 feet away, background will be really blurred but if you point something that is 10 feet, obviously the background won't be that blurred.
Being able to reproduce an effect TECHNICALLY doesn't mean you understand the laws behind it. I see some photorealistic trees, but leaves defy gravity laws

So I repeat, with such a wide lens, you can't focus that far and get such blur. I wish I could re-invent optical laws but I just can't so trust me, it's not accurate!

Not starting a ping pong argument, just clarifying my point. Your images are awesome, so adding some optical accuracy wouldn't be too much

After all this is what our community is for, sharing experiences and make people better at what they do!
I can't do what you do in terms of rendering so I'll never have any advice on that but sure thing is I can share my photography knowledge!
Cheers!

For those who are interested you can look at Hyperfocal
