walls
walls
Hi all! I usually make rooms with 'box' command with 'radius' =< 5mm and 'radius segments =>3.
I make windows and doors via boolean operator, everytime I use the merge points and unify poligons commands (even if often this is with no effect).
Do you know what's the reason why the render makes these surfaces very shiny? Along the line where the walls join themselves there is a luminous straight line wich I can't imagine how generated.
The artifact appears to be indipendent from the amount of value in reflection and/or diffuse channels.
Oh... lines only appear after the last render step.

Re: walls
here they are. There are some adjustments from the first to the last one, but the problem... flies around...
I suppose it's a problem of geometry... ?

Re: walls
Many thanks... Attached.
PS: rounded corners walls should be realistic. Maybe 5mm is too great (but at home I have similar... geometries).
On the other way, if I model a simple box, I'll have to manage black spots on the walls. True?

Re: walls
Well it renders fine here. But on object 005 for example you have missing polygons.
I think problem must be in your scene setup or render settings.
And no making simple box won't make any black spots.

In theory rounded walls should indeed look more realistic. But on the other hand you don't really notice rounded corners on normal pictures unless they are really close up. Also making corners rounded will give you a lot more trouble when modeling so I think it's best to avoid them.PS: rounded corners walls should be realistic. Re: walls
Ok. I'll try to change the geometry as you suggest.
You are very kind, as usual.

Re: walls
mmmm... I remodelled the walls as you suggested. The problem is still here.
So I link you the whole project zip file. There is no copyrighted stuff in the scene, and it is a non profit work.
If you have spare time to investigate, it would be very kind. If you haven't, it's not a problem. I suppose that the issue is related to the AA pass: before the last pass the shining lines don't appear in the prerender window.
Anyway, this is the last render and here it is the link http://www.dartrender.altervista.org/temp/ikea.zip
Many thanks
PS: there are a lot of errors in placing the objects (the computer screen, for example) but my main problem, now, is to understand the reason wy there is a so weird artifacts.

Re: walls

The link is fixed (maybe you are redirected to an altervista page where the direct link is).
Many thanks.

Re: walls
Ok. Now I realized where I messed the scene. The render is clean now.
Many thanks, indeed.

Re: walls
Please, after all that I'm dying to know. How'd you fix the scene?
