Needs some help...
Hi everyone,
I just finish tried rendering with Kray. I needs some help, how can or which part I need to re-edit/adjust the rendering?
Also, I have a problem with the Kray Instance which is the angle some of the trees was not balances.
& how can I make more realistic steel on the main object of top of the building?
Hope some of you guys can give some tips or help.
Thanks.
Azmen

It's hard to see what's wrong with instances in this image. You would need to show your setup.

Hi!
Good to see you are making progress with Kray!
Some pointers:
1) If the roof is made of steel, and with the sunlight falling as it is, there should be a strong specular reflection somewhere, which is missing now (unless you would paint your steel roof in a supermatte paint, but then it wouldn't look like steel anymore.
2) If the sun is as strong as it looks in your render, I would think that the sky would be a beautiful open blue sky - this would make that black shadow of the building a lot more blue and light, because that area still receives light from the sky.
3) If you're going to make the roof reflect more, try using a gradient in lightwave in the reflection channel, with the input parameter set to incidence angle. Then make the sides (the "glancing angle") more reflective than the frontal area, to get a good fresnel effect. The fresnel effect is crucial for good reflections, in my opinion!
Cheers,
Thomas

Re: Needs some help...
Thanks for the tips and helping me guys, really appreciate. Attached is much better than the earlier.
Latest rendering of image and 'Kray Option' setting I done for this render. This image resolution is 620 x 877 and its took more an hour. This is ridiculous.
I am not really sure I did wrongly with setting or others. It's just started and I plan to prepare for next step as I need to render it an A0 paper size for advertising. And to prepare for the animation HD 720p format soon. So I am really, really, really need help and advise from the expert in Kray user, how can I reduce the time for rendering but need the high quality and more realistic.
Anyway, I need some comment about this image so I will adjust to make more realistic and nice.
Thanks.
Azmen

For speed on all vegetation put KraySurfaceOptions shader and select:
Photon mapping
cache irradiance OFF
Control FG rays: min 1 max 10

Hi Jure,
I am a bit confused, let me guess...
Put 'Kray Surface Option sahder' on all the trees object (leaf material, trunk etc)?
If I'm not mistaken.

Re: Needs some help...
Hi everyone,
This is my final rendering,2480 x 3508 resolution. Appreciate any comment about this rendering with Kray from you guys.
Should I adjust the lighting, Photon, FG, Sampling, Quality setting or else. Rendering took more than 5 hours . It's that normal? I am suppose to re-render again, double this size ( maybe A0 size ) soon. Just tried to render that size but the 'remaining on the render log said' it's gonna take about a week to finish the rendering. Is it because of too many trees using Kray Instances? Really appreciate if you guys can help with this problem.
I too was trying to render with DOF and it took about 7-8 hours. Used standard preset render setting - Medium and just adjusted on the Sampling tab > anti-aliasing > Grid > Box > 0.8, FSAA. Others are same setting as standard.
Thanks.

Re: Needs some help...
5h time render is ok.for that view I think You do not need DoF (but if you like better is use Z-buffer and DoF Pro , same time render, better control, also You can use Z-buffer for fog effect ) This time from Kray log are very theoretical time, if you need more exact time please use PIXEL ORDER RANDOM in GENERAL TAB)

Re: Needs some help...
Thanks for the replied.
5h is normal render time? OK, but soon I will make an animation in HD 720p format. Thinking if possible I want to make a Motion Blur for the cars and people. So it will take a long time to render for each frames even if I turn ON the cache irradiance?
For this rendering image I used a PIXEL SCANLINE in general tab.
Anyway, I don't think so this image looks realistic. How can I make more realistic? How can I make cloud in Kray?
Thanks.
Azmen

Re: Needs some help...
Effects like clouds, motion blur and DOF are all better to be done in post. It's faster and you have more control over it. 5h may be much but it depends on what kind of CPU you are on.
To get more realistic image I think you need to fix your material on the main building. From the picture I can't really see what kind of material is it supposed to be? The ground looks realistic enough from this view I think.

Re: Needs some help...
Thanks Jure.
Me too, thinking about the material on the main building. Will change it later on.
About the render time, I already wrote the spec of my PC (below the images). It's not good enough?
How about lighting in Kray I did? Anyway can I use HDRI in Kray?
Thanks.
Azmen

Re: Needs some help...
You have alot objects, so this need time for render. Half of image are objects - no planst so render should be maybe under 3 h... If You will cache GI in animation, next frames will be much faster.azman_821009 wrote:Thanks for the replied.

finally render time for one frame for 720p will be ~20-30 min/frame...
DoF, MB, fog effect from After Effect.

Re: Needs some help...
Wow!! Thanks again Janusz. Appreciated that.
Anyway can I make a flying leaf using Kray instance? Or make an animate the trees? (this are for close-up scene for the animation soon).
I have 1 more question about the image below. for the material I were marked is too bright (this image was re-touch up with Photoshop). The material 'Diffuse' is 50% and color is Light Gray in Surface Editor but it still bright. So where should I re-edit in Kray?
Thanks.
