Interior - Barandov 2

Post by cruisermori »

My new light model test. Little bit longer render time, but I dont know what is the AA part of it. I am still not familiar with AA set-up :( Does anybody know why this white part emerged on the sofa :?: Any C&C welcome.

Nice render.
The white part on sofa is light leak which is caused by highly blurred irradiance. To prevent this turn paths to 1.

One thing you could try is to set Luminosity model->indirect. This should render faster and produce less noise.

Do you use skylight + sun for lighting?

No I dont use skylight. I use Spot light as a sun and area lights behind all windows. In total 15 area lights.
Indirect model I am going to try this evening. Thanks for a tip.

Area light produce more grain than skydome or Hdri.
Try backdrop gradient and AA pass will be shorter.

15 area lights sounds too much. Where did u put them?

Try backdrop + indirect for a comparision...

Hi. Thanks for help. Here is render with backdrop gradient (1000% layer opacity) + indirect mode. It is much faster, but there are some shortcomings -
bad shadows on the ceiling, lost details on plants in front of window :(

I think it looks better. Contact shadows are indeed somewhat weaker than they should, but the overall lighting and feel is way more natural. If you can afford the extra time, you can try and do a QMC render.

I think it looks good now, just the AA in the windows is weak because the contrast is to high. But how about adding a simple ambient occlusion pass in post for the contact shadows ?

Hmmm.....still problems with the contact shadows, the pictures on the wall look like they are floating. And you should put something other than the bright white sky in the backround, because Kray has problems to get a good aa. Maybe a grey cardboard will help, you can add a better backround in post.
