tree model to reverse engineer

Post by soth3d »

Hi,
Can I have request? I am trying to do realistic tree with xFrog model and model is very good but I seem to have rpoblems to get texturing right... after 2 hours of playing still is nowhere close to realism... :(

Can someone upload a good scene with a tree to study? Is that technical support question? ...ish ;)

BTW Thx for all previous answers and suggestions.

Just keep basic setup:
diffuse for leafs: ~70%
reflection 3-5%
translucency 30-60%
You can use specular 20/45 (fake reflection from Sun)
For translucency better is use map (more realistic)

We test now new function in Kray: double translucency, I hope this will raise quality for plants.

btw: I playing 1.5 Year with plants for better realistic

That is pretty much what I did :) What is this blue thing I wonder... any ideas? There is something wrong with transparency... well I will work on it tonight... I played with it and looks like no matter what option I am choosing I got this nasty semi transparent polygons. I cannot use clip maps with instancing, can I?

He he.
Just use clip map on oryginal object (cloned object will get clip map setup automatically)
You can use also transparent map (as You used) but You have to use clip map as ALPHA)
I suggest Clip.

cheers!

Now, looks much better (but I had to fight with UV maps - there was only one, so clip map (as being per object not per surface) did not work very well.)

Now I am trying to do something similar to Vue (just much cheaper and faster), wish me luck!

PS Can I have NoRender Flag on KRay object? LW visibility controls seem to be not working...

Yes it works for regular objects - not for instances. If you want to disable instances then just uncheck "enable plugin" inside kray instances panel.

I think I did not save the scene before rendering. ;)
