need help rendering time

Post by davide »

Hy gurus!
I followed your discussions and try to reply by myself but I'm in trouble with the rendering time.
After the irradiance calculation (2 hours) I've started the rendering and the time is 1 day and more then 10 hours...where can I optimize my scene?
Thanks in advance,
davide

I'm no guru, but I'll try to help. First, I think you've got way too many global photons. Id try 1500000 and n=3000 or so. Set GI resolution to use global autophotons. Get the diffuse model to Photons estimate/Precomputed, activate shared GI and save the GI file. This will speed up your next render. Render out the lightmap. Now set the diffuse model to Photon mapping and cache irradiance. Select 'both' for the GI file. Raise your FG max rays a bit. Set your Antialiasing settings to grid size 3 or so, and undersampling to 16 or 32 will work fine. Tick fullscreen AA. Prerender aroud 25-40%. Raise your octree depth to around 35 or so.
I don't know if this will help, but give it a shot anyways.

Thanks dwyatt for the answer.
The process is the same with the difference of the global photons.
I'll try to set the global photons lower then mine.
Thanks a lot,
Davide
