LW9.6 + Kray 2.0 cool features

Post by jure »

As you all probably already heard LightWave 9.6 has been released. Now we can finally tell you about the cool features in Kray 2.0 we had to keep quiet about.
Lightwave 9.6 brings much improvements to the SDK in a way that lets external render engines use more of it's features.

The big news is Network rendering. And best of all is you don't have to change anything about your existing render farm because Kray works over LWSN. Just save the scene with Kray as external renderer and you are ready to go!

Another notable feature is that you can now use all the LW's image output formats - just use LW's built in image saver and images will be saved correctly.

Also you can now use LW's Image Viewer. To use this you must leave Kray's output filename empty and this will force Kray to send the image into LW's Image Viewer.

The new SDK also brought some much needed fixes which include macOS speedup, geometry normal fixes and many others.

Note that for all this features you will need LW 9.6. Older versions will not support this.

Enjoy,
