So RAM, RAM and RAM

OK, I am planning to buy my personal PC soon. It's 24gb RAM enough for Kray? So maybe I can use a High Octree, Isn't?
In native LW, at Render Tab there has I button call 'Segment Memory Limit'. Why Kray just do the same thing like that? I'm not familiar with that but just give some idea.

Please remember High Octree need a lot memory for huge scenes (for small scenes high octree does not help, because this is no rapid tool..this is just memory management which can increase speed render in big scenes by better organization memory)
I do not know how it works in LW, but I know how great works this in Kray

HappyMantis wrote:Just remember one thing...I know that google 3d models may look like crap at first, but some of them could really be surprising good at render (particularly for a long view like yours)
example. Maybe could you have a try with them (fixing texture/color map to match your goal) and if it works, just replace your millions polygons models?
I already have scene which took ages to render due to millions poly trees, and after finding the good sketchup model, render was still nice but A LOT faster....hope it can help!
I just want to ask something about the 3d trees you are using. What is the best format to export it? OBJ? As I know if I convert the model to OBJ, it will become very huge file right? So what is the best format to export it?

Finally, I've found why I took too long to render it. Everything because of the trees. I just turn off the Kray instance and it's work really fast (2-3 minutes). So, I think Kray Instance still not really good in rendering with kray. I think so. Hope for the next version, Kray will improved the render speed with Kray Instance.

...hmm I do not think so...Instane in Kray works perfect, but I can not confirm now because I do not have now hardware. Problem is with memory (not enough) and maybe with LW10 (will check it soon...). Can by also that : Your trees has very high poly so this is normal when you render and you receive problem with speed.

Absolutely! You cannot expect a render engin to render hundred of millions polygonal trees in minutes, it's not a question of how Kray deals with instance (even if, of course, a software could always be better), it's a question of logic...Having high power in hardware shouldn't allow people to forget about optimizing scene.
Example in your scene: who will see that the trees have millions polygons? Why do you need such details, as your trees are basically a green point? (No offense, I'm really fond of your picture!).
By the way, you can export from sketchup in .obj, again it's the number of poly which make the size of the file, not the format (well indeed I find .obj to be a bit heavier than .lwo...but sketchup trees will always be very light, so you can go with .obj + it's a format that lightwave understand very well)
But very glad you find the problem, and I hope we will be able to see the animation?

Actually the high poly trees for close-up rendering. So I'm lazy to make the low poly for bird eye view/aerial view. Just use the same file. Hehe.
Haha. OK happymantis. I'll upload the trailer animation on youtube soon.

Hi guys,
I just want to know about more option in Sampling tab. What is Undersample for? I was trying turn on that thing used 2-4-8, and it's something like not much different if I turn it off.

Forget about this. FSAA Grid 3 filter Box 0.7 ..... as minimum (better use Grid 4 or more).

Thanks Janusz anyway. OK, but I just want to know what is that actually doing.

Kray Wiki:
"Under sampling is a technique that can save some CPU time needed to perform rendering. This works as follows: In the first pass the image is sampled with lower resolution (Undersample factor defines how low), and if difference between neighbouring pixel values exceeds threshold image is locally sampled with higher resolution. "

btw can by a bit faster....but i don`t know how will be quality of AA. I never used this function.

Hi guys,
I have some question here about instance again. How can I make an instance object face on to the direction that we want? For example such as the lamp post/street light, and follow the direction to the curvy street? I'm not really sure how to explain that, but hope some of you guys understand that.
Thanks.
Azmen

Use Kray "Custom Object" like in
this example scene..
