Hi,
I rendered an animation with kray 2.0 but it seems to have black splotches in the scene at some frames.
The scene is fully GI baked for all frames... I also tried to render it on a mac, renderfarm and an win2003 but it stays the same... for the same frames.
So...I need a bit of help.
Thx,
Fabian

Re: Black splotches in animation
I'm at 500000 for the caustics and at 3000000 for the photons. Could it be caused by lights in the scene?

Check Your resolution GI.
For interiors good is 400 mm (without auto) and for this room enough is 200.000 photons.

Okay...
That seems to be the problem, I had to much photons.
Thx Johny!

Kray 2.0 + LW 9.6 + 72core renderfarm = 1/10 rendertime

Re: Black splotches in animation
Last time I had this error I created the GI cache the wrong way.
It should be done this way.
- Set GI Mode to Shared for all frames
- Make sure there is no GI file present
- set mode to update
- set renmderrange and an apropriate framestep an render the animation (you can disable AA for this)
- after the render is done, set mode to load before doing any other renderings
- enable AA, set the framesetp back to 1 and send it to the farm.
Cheers, Florian

Hi Florian,
I'm gonna try your sollution. (cause I re-rendered the scene last night on the farm and it had the black splotches again...pfff)
But it meens that if the camera moves in a scene you need to cache-bake some frames to have enough GI-data for the renderfarm? While if you would render it on a single computer the splotches would not appear?
Grtzzz,
Fabian
