Just wanted to say Good Day

Post by Macdoggie_forum »

Greetings I have just joined your group as I have been informed by my wife that I would be getting a copy of Kray in my Christmas Stocking this year. Naturally, I am really excited about this and am ready to get started even though it is not Christmas yet!

I feel like a kid again waiting for Christmas to get here. I was just wondering as a general question. Has any one here had a chance to Run Kray in Lightwave on any of the quad core intel Macs and is the performance (render-wise) in the UB Mac builds of LW noteworthy.

Thanks and cheers to the lot of you :D

Welcome Macdoggie, it's alway's good to see new kray users, especially Mac ones

The current development of the Mac kray plugin is for the UB of Lightwave 9.3.1 (there was a Lscript issue in the previous LW UB builds which would prevent you from loading a kray scene). There is currently no CFM (PPC) kray plugin, but this situation will be reviewed after the next release.

Kray runs just fine on intel quad cores as I have no problem running it on my 8-core :D

Happy kraying

Thanks Florian,

My wife does quite a bit of coding so it is not too big an issue. We both tend to immerse ourselves in our perspective disiplines. We do manage to keep each other balanced though.

By the way nice renderings on your site! Und die Photgraphie ...... die Farben sind sehr reich! Sehr Schon! (my keyboard doesn't support Umlauts)

Ciao

By my reckoning that shouldn't be too much of an issue. I model animate and set up the scene in the CFM version then render in the UB version so I am used to running two builds of LW. Now that I think of it this is a first, Usually you run the CFM version due to plug-in support. Now it seems it's the other way around. Rather ironic, don't you think??

Bottom line ... so long as it rocks!!

Oooh I am envious! I am running a dual 2.5 G5 with 7 gigs of ram as well as Leopard. It has been a great machine but it is starting to get a bit scruffy around the edges. I am waiting to hear the announcements at the Keynote this January. Hopefully there will be a release of the next generation of quad cores. Then I will make my move. It has been very difficult waiting though. I do have a dual core intel MacBook Pro which has impressed that hell out of me (never been much of a fan of Laptops). At work however, I have been assigned a Quad core and it is a beautiful machine.

Really looking forward to getting started producing some imagery. Too bad I have to wait till Christmas. Have to admit, it's like being a kid ... at Christmas time.

Cheers

Indeed it is!

Shaun!! Good to hear from you mate!! How's the situation at work pertaining to Keeping LW in the pipe as opposed to Max?? Looks like you have or are considering Kray as the answer to VRay eh??

Stand your ground and fight the good fight. See you on the other side!

Cheers
