Room with IES

Post by florian »

Tried the IES loader node from DPont on this one. A TV room somewhat like the one Johny posted here.

An animation of the room is cooking overnight and I can render out another POV with DOF tomorrow (gotta love those tech-abbreviations).

Here is the Animation. Took around 6-7 min. a frame.

And another camera view with DOF.

Nice one florian! Looks smooth!

I see some fireflies over the spotlights. I wonder if those are caused by IES lights?

Grid 4 FSAA
Pixel Filter Cone; Filter Radius 1.5

The large Filter Radius gives it the smooth look. Its too much for a still but nice for animation.

Are those little white dots caused by the IES?

I think so. I see them from time to time when I use the IES node, but usually only when there are a lot of IES lights in the scene.

Not sure if it's a bug with the IES node itself, or Kray's implmentation of nodes. Easy enough to find out though I guess.

Yes, those are caused by the IES light. Dont know if Lightwave shows them too or if this is only a Kray problem.

Have you thought about baking the texture the node creates? All the IES plug-in is creating is a transparency map. Just drag the node to the colour channel an bake that.

I could but I would prefer if it would render without baking because that will take an extra step.
