Archicad 16 -> Lightwave - Workflow

Post by Steel »

Hi,

we have some problems to get some good Archicad 16 to Lightwave workflow. Our client has tried
to export with some different settings as .3ds format but we always get some very damaged mesh
as result. -> see attached image

Does someone have some experiences what kind of worklflow works fine for this?

Thanks for some hints,

Greetings Thomas

The best idea is to get max file format. In max3d you have very good exporter for lightwave.

here how export with special script which change V-ray surfaces to max surfaces (so you will not get mess in Modeler)

here script

Avoid 3ds format.

Hi Janusz. Thanks for your answer.
Archicad seems not to have a .max export function.
Here is the list of export formats:

Maybe we try .obj and .stl format.

I always model them from the start and I put the geometry that is exported from the cad program
(obj , or just 2D plan or views) in the background as a reference.
In the end it's always faster because there will be definitely some problem with the imported mesh along the way
This is the case with LWCAD btw :)

Yes obj is the best choice in this situation.
