I think you go to correct direction.
Of course Nodes are not magic tool - in my case I use them for (It can NOT be done in normal surface system):
- Fresnel connected with diffuse (It help me keep very close physical behavior of surfaces with reflection and diffuse.)
- Mixer - It help me to mix many textures before I connect them to Color Input
- Color Tool - as we know, most of textures are not ready to connect to color input - they need tweak with contrast, Hue, brightness...also from one texture you can make many, without changing texture source.
- Normal Map Node - it help me to transform Luma (bump) information to Normal map without wasting time and better control of bump.
- blur map - it help make better behavior on some surfaces with blur effect (blur is not everywhere the same especially in wood surfaces)
- LW reflection Shader - for ani-reflection effect
- Double surface - for leafs, curtains (it help control surface with different behavior for both sides of wire)

Also:
- No specular at all
- no tweak surface by Diffuse (Diffuse is has auto mode connected with Fresnel)
- no tweak surface with Luminosity
- no bump map (only Normal Maps)

Maximum level for Fresnel in my Nodes is 20 (metal).
Plastic, floor : 1.4-3.0
more reflected surfaces (still no metal!): 3.0-5.0

Very nice renders! In the second image near the ceiling and around the hood over the cook surface you have some splotches. Janusz could probably give you some pointers as to how to get rid of those.

Otherwise there isn't anything that gives it away from CG. Very nice.

Yes. I think you should just turn ON QMC in Kray. Just select UNCACHE in general tab and in FG TAB min/max 50/300 (If you like less noise level, then 50/500). Remember Path Passes 1/100% !.
It can be slower but the quality of GI will by top.
