Hi there.
I have a scene that renders differently on 2 machines. One is an older i7, the other is a new sandybridge 2600.
I thought at first I had older plugins on one, but I have just copied the same install onto both.
It looks like some lighting elements are changing between the 2 computers.
Any ideas? Is it because I have auto GI res on?
I will try an uncached render and see what happens.
I cannot share any images, under NDA like usual...
Cheers!
Same scene renders differently on 2 machines
Re: Same scene renders differently on 2 machines
Right, well uncached had no effect. I've been dredging the forums here and it appears that polys with really high lum values can cause these hot blotches. Will try limiting the DR and see if that helps.
EDIT... answering my own questions
most of the issue is with the amount of Photons and the N value.
I've never had to render an interior that is quite as densly packed with items as this so never run into the problem.
Forum history is great once you actually figure out what the problem might be.

Re: Same scene renders differently on 2 machines
You need to save GI solution to file on one computer and then load this file to both computers.
The problem is because photon shooting phase is completely random so there is no way to get the same distribution of photons twice.

Hi Jure,
Great, thanks for the answer. I thought it might be something like that after further investigation.
