Best setup for glass

Post by geo_n »

What is the best setup for glass in kray?
single sided material single poly? double sided material single sided poly? single sided with airpoly?
FG transparency on or off?
I'm rendering a scene that slows down a lot with the glass area. Any tips appreciated.

Glass is a solid material and as such it should be modeled this way. So you do not need any air polys or double sided flags. Just model the glass with some thickness and leave material single sided. If you want to speed up glass rendering then you can add KraySurfaceOptions shader and force it to render "Raytrace only". You can also use nodes to limit the recursion depth of the glass - check the material I posted: http://www.kraytracing.com/joomla/forum ... =viewtopic
