Instancing tutorial [help, missing: ko_point]

Post by soth3d »

Hi,
I just have read instancing tutorial and is like very not up to date, I mean, now instancing in KRay is so much easier. But text is still very helpful. I have one problem, http://www.kraytracing.com/wiki/Basic_Kray_Instancing plug-in seems to not be on-line any more, can someone post it here, please? Cheers

Alright, that looks cool. Now are you using Kray Surface options shader on those trees? You should force them to render "uncached" with low FG rays (10/100) to speed up things.

wow

cheers, what should I do to Control Diffuse Model'? To uncheck Cache Irradiance I need to choose one. Should I apply the shader on all tree surfaces or leaves only?

Use this. For me is best balance between speed and quality. After tahat You can use ID map for extract leafs and clean noise from PS.

You can probably add it to the whole trees without problems.

I tried this and is not even a bit faster than global 'Uncached' settings. I do save both scene and the objects after applying the settings. hmmmm....

PS Do I need to save objects as well (lw 9.6/HC)

PPS I am trying with even lower setting now.

PPPS Well, thanks to the shader I got rendering down by about 0.7% ;)

Ahh you are using uncached all the way? Well in that case the shader will not produce big difference.
But if you were using cached for global settings and apply uncached to only trees then there will be difference.
