what works and not works in kray?

does the light portal works if using physky? i seem to be having a lot of crashes.
how about some node materials that doesnt work with physky? what are they?

It does`t work yet. You have too use lumi ball with Sunsky or texture.
Btw if You recived crashes with skyportals please check Your setup shader (check source of light in shader, sometimes when You change setup of Skyportals Kray can crash - it is random, so better save scene before render)

lightportals cannot work with backdrops. Physky is a backdrop so it cannot be seen by lightportals.

When Lightportals came out, everybody was so excited, but now it seems like a not so used solution anymore.
How come?
Well, I'm waiting for ProArch II maybe to get this king of answers :)

Problem is they can be tricky to setup. Often you get splotching which you need to compensate with photon number multipliers. Photon map also cannot see backdrop and is more likely to produce light leaks. But still sometimes, in situations where lighmaps have difficulty to reach light sources, ligthportals are your best bet.

what about some preset material, i thought i read somewhere here long time ago that kray will have preset material.
are there a list of what node shader that doesnt work with kray with physky or even without using physky?
just frustrating when im re-rendering some LW scene with some node shader applied and doesnt work with kray. :(

still loving kray

Kray can only render what LW passes to it. To make the long story short: shaders are not supported as well as those nodes that require special prepass rendering which cann't be accessed by Kray - just like with Fprime for example.
About physky: physun is not LW light so any material that requires real LW light present will not render correctly with Physical sun.

About preset material - we are still looking for someone who could code the material preset webpage.
