IES light crashes

Postby ZodiaQ » Wed Apr 10, 2019 2:55 pm

Can I state that IES lights are not fully supported in K3?
I have been working on 2 interiors which contain some IES lights.
During the first phase the IES lights render just fine. Near the and of scene completion (scene getting heavy?) at some point the scene started crashing during rendering.
Took me quite some time to find the problem. Removing all IES lights did the trick. Strange though that they rendered just fine during the first stage of scene building. Or do they interact badly in certain circumstances?
So better not use any IES?

I use only IES.

Hmmm...please try to catch 100% crash scene or procedures for that and send me it.

Hello, I seriously think that K3 has a problem of memory management with big scenes (many different objects, textures, and instances ..)

For me it does not come from an imcompatibility (ies, shader, instances ect ..) otherwise the crash would be systematic. Which is not the case.

I found the solution to cut out my renderings with the option "limited region", sometimes doing 8 pieces for 1 image.

good luck :)

Could very well be the case, as it seems random, during mid-render and while not heavy scene everthing was fine.
Strange though that I haven't had any issues with my exteriors although they can be very heavy at some times too.
Anyway thanks for the tip gonna try next time!

This can be because of new Loader.
Solutions:
- we improved this in last internal beta
- you can use old loaders (in command line):

old:

Code: Select all

sett debugTestValue,0,0;

fast (this is also save)

Code: Select all

sett debugTestValue,0,1;

Actual build in K3 Turbo mode which use multi CPU: no need put any command:

Code: Select all

sett debugTestValue,0,2;

We improved Turbo Mode (some problem still) but I think next release will have correct working loader.

You mean loader can cause mid render crashes (sometimes even after pass 1)?
Anyway thanks gonna set it to normal for critical scenes.

Just check old/fast loader and tell me what is the "score"

Here my best selected IES base which works perfect (inside IES+renders):
IES.7z
(3.76 MiB) Downloaded 29 times
