Re: Kray 2.3 update released

Is shadowdensity supported in 2.3? Or only constant value? It would be great to have a mini update that would include support for shadowdensity. I included the sample scene. I usually render out moving objects separately as well as the shadow from the main bg render for flexibility and shadowdensity...

Re: Kray 2.3 update released

Congrats Kray team. And I think my bugging you guys worked and the alpha matt settings is a big deal not only for compositing guys but for people that know short cuts to correcting or editing stills. This is a big boost in productivity in that you don't have to rerender over and over again. Time for...

Re: kray v 2.3

Excellent render. When you say no post do you mean you didn't use linear workflow with tonemap blending?

Re: how to smoothen my ref blur

thanks Jure, yup im using uncached GI. im loving the result of uncached and i dont want to go back to caching GI. my FG min ray is 4000 and max ray 0. what amount i should use for the ref blur min/max setting? What difference are you liking in the uncaching vs. the caching? Uncached in kray as I un...

Re: LATEST KRAY TEASER !!!!

The translation of terminology between vray and kray goes roughly like this: vray - kray photon map = Photons/Photonmap lightcache = Photons/Lightmap Irradiance map = FG QMC = FG (uncached) There is no direct way to mix first and second bounce methods in Kray Photon mapping mode since Kray always u...

Re: LATEST KRAY TEASER !!!!

I think theres too much ao making it look very cg. Question. What mode in kray is the same as vray irr first bounce, bruteforce 2nd bounce? I think the reason I had slow experience with uncache gi is because photon mapping is still active. Is it a good way to use uncache and finalgather only in kra...

Re: All kinds of trouble with 10.1

Oh no!
How about the next update of kray? 2.3 or internal build?
I'm still using 9.6 because a lot of plugin broke in 10 and especially maestro plugin which is annoying but I do plan to move over 10 when it hits gold after this 10.1 rc.

Re: any news from kray world?

Not sure this wait and see approach is totally effective if kray wants to attract developers. There's already a multitude of renderers out there so this might be an effort that must be done by kray devs themselves. Octane dev had to pay other devs to do the converting for other appz. I'm not sure ho...

Re: any news from kray world?

Hurray!!! I will be so happy with that addition.
Btw, if you guys have time can you check the lscript I posted in customer area regarding bnr.
I still can't get it to work and it would be really cool to just press a button IN layout and bnr picks up the scene automatically.

Re: any news from kray world?

Hi Jure, Exr and improved alpha, matt support? I know I'm annoying about that  Also I wonder if you guys considered improving the brute force method in kray. I've been using vray for some time now, but not for archi, and the combination of Irridiance caching and bruteforce seems like the onl...

Here's the scene. I'm not getting good rendertime. Seems to be taking long on prerendering.

some benchmarks

There's some benchmarking going on at newtek http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=119393 It would be nice to have a kray expert do some test on the scene provided by Intution to show what kray engine can do compared to lw. The file http://www.newtek.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1142789&pos...

Re: Archviz Training DVD - from Evermotion

Unbiased kray would be slow unless it supports gpu rendering. Right now I think its best to focus kray to be able to do animation like vray and not try to go the maxwell, fryrender or octane route. And there's already a free unbiased renderer, lux, anyway. The new blender renderer seems to be unbiase...

Re: How would I break down this scene?

Well I know it's not really a solution, but you can always render shadows/reflexions with LW render buffer (no GI/refractions/ect in order to have quick renders) and then composite them? Problem is lights in lw don't look 100% the same when rendered in kray. You would be tweaking light settings. Kr...
