Re: exterior

Really excellent and quite original.

Re: Kray only render once then freezes

I have the same problem when : -Swap disk space is full -I do multiple changes in scene (like materials) without properly saving both the scene and the objects. Generally speaking, Kray is quite sensitive to changes between two renders. A common crash saving habit is to use Kray render frame button ...

Re: Diplacements work here.

Well no matter the technology behind, and even if I agree to say that something like Zbrush displacement would be a great addition, I think it's a bit annoying to let curious readers -who visit our site to consider Kray as a future investment- believe it's unable to make proper displacement. Ok, it ...

Diplacements work here.

I've always read on this forum, that displacement didn't work, si i never tried before. But after only a couple of minutes I got some good result with a super simple setup. So, what do you mean when you all say that disp. doesn't work? NOte : of course this is not a simple normal map. http://homepag...

Ambient occlusion

Hi guys,

Could you tell me what's your favorite solution to create an AO pass?
I've tried a few, and was scared how much it takes time to get noiseless renders.

As an addition, do we have an hidden option in kray to add a AO pass to buffers?

Re: Pro Arch vol II preview

It would be cool to have some details about what's coming for Kray (2.3 or 3.0 ?) and I hope Jonnhy-Janusz won't abandon us. I think Mindberries's business is far less sensitive as Autodesk can be, and giving customers some informations or a short roadmap would be a big help to make plans on what we...

Re: second try in kray

A zillion time better, except :

-palm trees to close to the building,
-postworked noise is useless or exaggerated
-some cheaper cars would be more realistic

The bloom effect on the top left window is quite cool.

Re: About light planes

Good answer is 3. Whether you use Kray or LightWave as your render engine, it's always good to keep this technique as an option, since it's very often faster than area lights with radiosity (note light planes only work with radiosity). Apparently, there's a small bug in the current version of Kray t...

I didn't know there was a bug with lumi panels. (I currently use them exclusively)

Any precision?

Re: Frequent crashing with Lightwave 9.6 for Mac

I have the same config, and Kray is stable here, except if:

-You change a lot of things in your scene between each render without saving.

-If you run out of memory.

Otherwise it should be a config/prefs issue.

Re: contact shadow in kray

dear Johnny, I have opened your scene and I don't really see what's crazy in your setup except maybe the spatial tolerance which in my opinion must be kept under 0.07 whatever is your scene. This highly contributes to get good contact shadows. Otherwise, it would be apreciated to have an idea on whe...

About lwo2rayslimit

The manual says : lwo2rayslimit Can prevent problems with LW carpaint material. lwo2rayslimit 1,0.9; works as follows: rays above recursion level 1 of node evaluation will be fired only in 90% (0.9) tries. It prevents for very depth recursion (which can happend with car paint material) And my questi...

And there's no risk to get noisy reflections?

Anyway, I'll try it on a couple of pending renders that take ages to be rendered in hidef.

Have you checked the Renderer Choice box in the render globals panels?
