Thanks for the very detailed commenting and little philosophic talk also ;) Anyway, as said, I know some textures are still bad, I used the base from Larry's scene (same textures), I know it looks a little grayish, coz I changed the colour of the stucco from your model since I didn't like it ;) I wa...

Ok, another angle for the same render, I know the tile ground is wrong, coz it's modelled parts didnt quite fit, just added the texture quickly there ;)

Around 28 minutes for this one too...

This may be the same problem I had, since OB7 (correct me if I'm wrong) nodes were skipped if you had them on, but in OB8 they are not skipped (partly working nodes, some basic stuff), so if you have any nodes checked or on use, this might be the reason for slower rendering...

Thanks for the replies! As I already said, this is still "first version" of the final layout (as in intances are in place roughly etc), so We'll be tweaking this up more... Maybe could also tweak the contrast just a little in the render, as in the sunlight balance, maybe make it more invit...

Larry's scene in Kray...

Ok, here's the exterior image I came up with, hang in there we are updating this from this point more with Johny Q... :) All modelling is done by Larry from Genesis 1 Studios, and this is his work, we just asked for this model to compare the Fprime render he made of this... Here's the current result...

yea, tonemapping controls are good for this, so basically need to use exponential style to get rid of the "overburns", it should balance it a bit, experiment what is the best for the current scene...

So the end result is, V-ray image is worse, coz Kray version is more photoreal :)

Yea, this is where it comes to wether being photoreal or just visually appealing...

Latest interiorwork

Heres latest interior work done for the client by me and Johny. Actually this setup kinda came along with the exterior experiments we did and played around in HDR rendering and tonemapping with Reinhard... C&C welcome, though this is already finished work... http://www.render.fi/atsalea01.jpg ht...

This is kind of "bug" to me too, it happens when you have already rendered frames of same name on the same folder... So it helps to render anim files into one empty folder created for it only... It skips already rendered frames (if same name appears)... And if you need to fix something, re...

Trees are Onyx Trees, it's a great app to create very high or very low poly trees... Can find the package here, it's relatively cheap too... Just bought it, this is the first tree made with it... http://www.onyxtree.com/broadleaf.html Grass is Photoshopped, basic techique is this (hope this helps): ...

Ok, we've been doing a lot (A LOT) tweaking with Johny, and here are some first impression of what we're at with Kray exterior setup now... I know, this is still not quite there, I just applied our current setup and techique to this commercial scene to try how it would adapt, straight, no modificati...

There are many ways, but I've used a lot of area lights in a rooms where there is not any or very little windows to get quite good results... They're easier to setup than luminous polygons and are always 100% invisible without any tweaking and tricks...

My 2 cents for this too, since this is seems to be the "never ending discussion"... I would, as I do, base my costs on hour based salary. I use roughly 60-65 euros / hour (in Finland) as a basis to calculate projects. This means I have to know how fast I'm gonna do the modelling, texturing...

I believe with Kray we can produce similar results, but it takes time, since these exteriors are the first one we've been working on, so gotta learn some stuff, exteriors are totally different game compared to interiors... Thanks for the comments guys! I'll try to put up updated render of this scene...
