Re: New gold nod
Janusz this is just the DP reflection node. GGX is a totally different thing, It has a much smoother distribution of the blurrines, it has also a tail. Dp reflection blur doesn't solve the problem with ugly reflection blur in Lw. Dp reflection is the same as lw, just a less aggressive blur and some ...

Re: New gold nod
LW has a DP nodes kit and equivalent GGX. Black gloos a shader DP kit I'm pretty sure there's no ggx equivalent for Lw or DP, which node are you referring to? The best node for Lw reflections is Pom's gaussian node, but is very bugged and not usable in production. Right now the only way to get some...

Re: Small Interiors
I hope so! Lightwave has desperate need to keep up with the industry standard, and this new update can only be a good thing for the future.Janusz Biela wrote: K2 still but very soon official K3 beta
It will be a public beta or only an official announcement?

Re: Small Interiors
That's funny, because I thought your renders looked beautiful, as they always do, but only the sofas looked a bit flat and artificial :D I think it's because they are shot under controlled light using flash/strobe and fill panels (it's clearly visible from shadows, light direction and color) probab...

Re: Small Interiors
Even though a trained eye like us can always (like 9/10 of the times) spot the real reference from the rendering, I think that for everyone else is probably really hard - if not impossible - at this quality.
It's still k2 right?

Re: Default shader to use
You are right Fabian, it's going off topic. Anyway if a comparison is required for some reason I can provide some test.

Re: Default shader to use
Hi SOnny, Yes, the scenes are not optimised. Just putted some high settings to start with. I guess that the longer rendertime comes from the "not-supported nodes" they render in kray, just longer. For the change between standard to oren-nayar, I have to check. Cause I only used the standa...

Re: Default shader to use
A small rendertest: Except for the size of the lights, they look the same. I need to investigate why kray render is longer... maybe because of some shading models. Hi Fabian, I'm looking at your scene, I have some observations. I don't know if this settings are fair for comparison between lw and kr...

Re: Default shader to use
Some Nodes (especially shaders) has lack of documentations ....and simply G. can not add support in Kray for them because he can not "guess" in code. Some Nodes has also bugs and G. must make special traps for that to avoid deep recursion or even crashes. Personally I avoid them all excep...

Re: Default shader to use
Hi Sonny, This is way more advanced then what I have. Are you willing to share your setup as a preset, so I can investigate? I made a working car shader, with specular flakes and clearcoat separated but I cant mix it together on shading level. (it is in another thread on this forum) The problem I h...

Re: Default shader to use
Hi guys, sorry for the delay, I was a bit busy. Here in attach one of my standard node with a base coating. There are some missing input like bump falloff or bump mask but this are really simple to do, you can choose your best technique and add it to the node. As you can see it seems complicated but...

Re: Default shader to use
Very interesting, I'm using something similar for my lw materials, since I don't use kray anymore. I think that mine can be converted with standard lw nodes (now it uses Delta LW material and 3rd party nodes like schlick's approximation and cache node). prod_delta.jpg delta_compund.jpg What it can d...
