stepped shadows and colours

Post by sat »

Hello,

when I get stepped shadows and reflections instead of smooth ones is it something I forgot to set in Kray? I am using one area light (Light Quality: 4) in a simple room. Thanks in advance.

This is a part of the image. A cupboard beside a wall. Just one area light below the ceiling.

You can reduce it only from high Area setup: Area quality minium 1/4 , 2/4 or bigger.

I would like to add that the fact you see "steps" is because you use adaptive mode for your light source. If you use Min/max at exactly the same values 2-2, 3-3 and so on, the end result will be grainy but probably more appealing in the case of very long and soft shadows.
