AA settings with luminous polygons

Post by bigstick »

I have rendered the attached scene usine luminous polygons in the light fittings. It is just a simple, quick visualisation, (for me kray is a design tool as much as a visualisation one) so nothing awe-inspiring to look at.

You will immediately notice that the AA generally seems to be fine, apart from the edges of the lumi polys. I am using the following AA settings:-

rotated grid with size of 3
edge absolute =0.1
edge relative =0.1
edge Normal =0.1
edgeZ =0.1
edge Upsample =0
edge Thickness =1
edge Overburn =1
pixelfilter is catmull

These settings normally work just fine, so I don't know why they aren't working here.

I'm just guessing since I'm not seeing an image, but try adding limitdr -1; to your tailer commands and see if that helps

And here is another guess: Catmull will add black lines in contrast areas like luminous surfaces that will look jaggy so do a test with pixelfiler Mitchel or lanczos

Sorry guys, I have reached my upload quota, which is why the image wasn't uploaded.

Rather helpfully, both suggestions improved the image separately. The combined effect is a definite improvement, here http://picasaweb.google.com/jjallenupth ... 2800941186

Thanks a lot for your help!
