In the weekend I found this post on Newtek forum :
http://forums.newtek.com/showthread.php ... Kray-2-51)

jaw dropping stuff :D

How did you do the carpet? and isn't it possible to add these awesome fabric and wood materials to the Kray depo?

...still moving :lol:
Anyway, You are on the correct track. You need just some information for one command line - this will show soon...special command for compensate Power. Th9is command is normal procedures in Global Illumination - I think is very strong in use in Corona Render Engine.
One more think you need: good post process (will do later by my post system just to see effect)
The most important is, you got very good RAW material for next step: post processing. RAW render must be without high contrast, without over burns and a bit dark. Also Anti-Aliasing and reflection blur must be perfect - this you must fix. There is no way to receive good render straight from Render Engine.

Carpet is no science - basic LW instances - is more about imagination then tool...I do not need in architecture special fur generators..LW Instances can make most of the effects in arch field.

Here command:

Code: Select all

globalpmblurmultiplier 1/2;
It reduce power effect in global illumination - in this case twice.

Code: Select all

globalpmblurmultiplier 1/3;
It reduce three times

Code: Select all

globalpmblurmultiplier 1/1.5;
It reduce one and half

-------------------------------------------------------
Here situation when we can use it or we have to use:
capture002.png
capture003.png
Power Shader is standard tool in many Render Engines which allow user extend Tone Mapping. By this tool we increase power of photons without seeing bloom light effect.
I suggest use maximum Power 3.0 (three times more photons from light sources). Personally I use maximum 2.0 and command:

Code: Select all

globalpmblurmultiplier 1/1.5;
-----------------------------------------------------------
Attention
This is command which reduce bad reflection effect! Using Power Shader without this command will generate strong reflection effect - which will be not correct physically . This is normal situation in many other softwares.

If are any questions please write down here.

-------------------------------------------------------

This tools can help very much to get better light in interiors but please use it gently.

Edit
This command gives metal feeling similar to Maxwell surfaces because reflection effect is "dimmed" . So it can be use (globalpmblurmultiplier 1/1.5;) also in standard render without Power.

Thank you so much! Gonna try this right away!
Maybe I will finally be able to do interiors after all :)))

As preview render times gets longer and longer maybe you can give some tips on how to get quicker previews

Here solution (it will be special button for that in K3):

1. Switch to minimum 500.000 photons:
capture004.png
2. Disable prerender (passes doesn`t work when prerender is zero):
capture005.png
3. Disable AA (better is use Catmull filter - for sharper preview):

Why in step 1 minimum 500.000 Photons?

You can put 100.000 if room is small. But please remember to fill up space you need at list 1.000.000. I noticed then more we shoot then better is photon map (quality).
of course in GLOBAL PHOTONS RECEIVE we shoot photons from CAMERA to Light Sources. This save a lot time because we do not need shoot photons behind objects and in the end we get ~20.000-50.000 photons maximum. But is really better when we shoot more. This first step step save a couple of second if we reduce from 1 million to 200.000 for example. The quality is not so different then final render (please remember to back to final settings after preview renders :wink: ) but to see general light, colors, tone map effect etc is enough.
Why I want one button in K3 as fast preview with these settings. Of course main preview window will be VPR Kray (it works great) but I do not have yet progressive scanning so is lagging preview window, because K3 try render final image in a few steps (it will be same as in Fprime, smooth...but of course without noise :wink: )

Starting to learn a lot, thanks again Janusz.
What about pixel order rendering, does that make any difference?
I can remember reading that when using progressive render you get less final quality?

Almost no differences between them but I suggest:
- Random - gives more accurate GI because samples are calculate randomly and we will not see threats lines in GI. Random pixel order is not that accurate with remain time as we think because in the beginning (~20-30% of time render) pixels are calculated alone and after that they get more speed.
- Scancolumn - it give in my opinion best accurate remaining time (of course depends from render image) because each thread has almost the same field to calculate.

Progressive can stuck in some situations so I do not suggest.

-------------------------------------------------------
For better accurate CPU use, the best is RANDOM. I noticed with many threats (Dual Xeon) Random pixel order gives 100% CPU stress. I will talk about this with G. because other scanning pixels had some fractions in CPU use, not big different but it is.

Thx, I mostly use progressive for preview renders (column for final) because random always makes me feel like there is something wrong in the start :) you sometimes don't see colors and light in the start fase of render.
Soon new updates, starting to get better and better :D

Janusz could you share just some of your post processing secrets, I understand you use AE to do post work?

I would like but this is my secret. Anyway I use this (in combination of course):
- After Effects as main software + Handbrake for animation compression.

Plugins:
- EFX Alpha streaks (is free) + other for alpha channel
- Frischluft Depth Of Field
- Magic Bullet (almost all plugins from this package)
- RE:Vision RSMB
- Optical Flares
- denoiser II
- Levels, Glow, etc

+ some small less important plugins.

I do not use Photoshop. Using AE I do two thinks: post process and animation.
