QMC you can use for all sources of light.

QMC is just no interpolation method. In kray, shooting photons phase is interpolated (cells). So using QMC first we shoot interpolated (limited amount) photons and GI we calculate by Final Gathering (interpolated) or QMC (no interpolated)
Final Gathering offers no noise and speed but brings problems with contact shadow and splotches
QMC offer perfect GI and brings noise which can be reduce by stronger setup of course by loosing time.

Path Tracing - apparently only Kray has two versions: Uncache (Maxwell, Octane) and Cache (maybe somebody will find another softawre which offer Cached Path Tracing) This last one is limited by GI resolution so is mix between Photon Mapping and Path Tracing GI.

Path Tracing doesn`t need shoot photons! (You can set up 0 in Kray except Cached method) All photon are calculated separately. Also this method is very "sensitive" for amount of bounce lights - more - slower render (Photon Mapping with Final Gathering has almost no differences between recurse 6 and recurse 60).

Thanks Janusz for these explanations.

Now could you give us some advices about the use of Physky and Tonemapping with QMC ?

Thank you.

My current test render is now better, close to the one of Nico, but with more ambient light and less noise.

But it's still noisy, and the rendertime is not so good. So I'll keep trying to tweak a couple of settings
The most impressive improvement are the contact shadows.

I tested last time very strong setup for Final Gathering to get really good contact shadow...but I could not, even with crazy High setup (this will be updated in K3. Is strange bug - I have to ask G. why Contact shadow is that strong depends from resolution...it should not) So when I start to get good contact shadow in Final Gathering (not perfect!) I noticed the time of render start be close to QMC...so I gave up. I think in Old Kray is just better to give up FG for QMC even if time render is 50% longer. In the end It will save time because no errors , splotches, no setup.
The Tips: render with QMC in HiRes needs less FG setup (for example small resolution 800/800 but HiRes 100/100...very HiRes over 4000 pix I rendered with 30/30 and still noise was acceptable)

You have noise because to bright up this space by very samll object You had to raise up luminosity up to 2000% or more (I suspect) - of course this will affect noise because photons are too strong. So better use extra light or Power Shader.
