kray short animations

Post by jnom »

Thanks to new update in kray 2.4 alpha matt settings I'm able to do some animation work in kray. Hope the shadowdensity bug gets fixed and support for bgimage in composite tab soon.
These are rendered in passes for maximum editability in post, avoid flicker and faster render time.

Client wanted stop motion look at first.

Logo animation. I wanted more debris, dust, etc but client wanted it clean and not distracting.

Hi jure,
Were you guys able to check the lw2backburner lscript I posted? its the only way for kray to render with buffers, without the looping bug for me. It must be a kray 2.4 lwsn bug.

Its just great to use from within layout and sends jobs really fast. This video shows kray to backburner in action.

other animation I use this method

I see that you have an Occlusion pass, do you get it directly from Kray? if not, how?

Jure here's the script. I'm sure a decent programmer can figure out this script. You or G can probably understand it in a day. There's one problem, it can't handle stepped render frames. Zardoz is not a programmer and can't figure it out.
Its really wonderful to be able to send scenes directly from layout unlike bnr or amleto. I'm begging newtek to refine this script so lw can join the pipeline with other software and use backburner but meh they're too busy.
How it works.

loop problem is when rendering sequence in kray 2.4, it goes back to original frame to render the whole sequence again. Its reported in bug section.
flickering is probably due to rotating parts even the joints are spinning disks.
All passes are from kray buffers nothing different.

Nice script! It needs a bit of fixging to make it fully working but here is a quick fix to allow you frame step rendering. Oh, I changed the manager IP so you will have to change it back to yours now...

I don't see the script.
Wonder if its possible to add the parameters for the ff: backburner root folder, manager IP, etc like in the attached pic.
I'm using an AE script with backburner that has those parameters and easily adjustable without having to edit the text file.

Backburner is free btw. I wonder if kray should take advantage of this and use it as a network controller.

Yep it's all possible. I just need to spend a bit of time with it. Here's the script i forgot to attach.
