Kray Benchmark
It's not a beauty pic, but I'd like to use it to make a comparisson between K ray, Lightwave 10/11 and other renderes.
May someone try?
It also seems more GI rays are necessary. see that big Glow in the wall.
LW 10
Lw 10 + EXR saved + Photoshop Gamma correction
5 min 30 seconds rendering in Lightwave 10

Re: Kray Benchmark
10 minutes. no post.
Now I'd like to see some K ray renderings
Re: Kray Benchmark
Benchmark scenes should not have errors, or post, as far as I know .. Otherwise how can you compare?

Re: Kray Benchmark
it's not kinda a post, it's just a Gamma correction wich Kray also does, I just didi'nt know where to do it in lightwave itself, but it's done in the last picture.
Re: Kray Benchmark
This kind of scene will not be a taxing benchmark for a renderer. Its too simple. We should test out the famous kitchen scene at cgtalk before. It has lots of corners where light and shadow would bring out render engine flaws. Add lots of reflective and blurred materials and some clean, sharp AA then that would be a good benchmark.

Re: Kray Benchmark
ugly test scene and 4 min 30 sec directly from Kray
Re: Kray Benchmark
since when a bench test without hardware specs does make *any* sense? just wondering

I think this is not bench scene....is too basic. But what You can see is engines differences....

Re: Kray Benchmark
Thanks!
Kray one looks great and just a little less time.
I'm planning using KRay ( instead of Vray ) for a project I will start in some months but still not sure I would be able to do better renders than lightwave itself and worried about KRay rendering times.
Janusz. Why won't you launch a Kray trainning video?

Re: Kray Benchmark
Guys what are you using as a light source?

Re: Kray Benchmark
I use all possible sources of light: Lumi Panels, Area Lights, IES, Physky, Sun Physky ...but, the most important think in renders, imho are surfacing and good looking models (this is around 80% of all).Mario wrote:Guys what are you using as a light source?
