first rendering

Post by soth3d »

Hi,
We bought KRay for presentation of Takrouna battle that our friend is preparing, he is II WW maniac. We need a lots of trees and I guess KRay is better than HDInstance. ;)

Anyway, for the study of new tool, I have rendered this image. The model is taken from LightWave lighting tutorial but all set-up is done by following KRay tutorials and tips from the forum.

What I do not like here is that everything is too glossy (I did load of re-surfacing anyway) and there is terrible grain (rendered on uncached settings). Another thing is of course that everything looks very cartoony but I blame this on the textures. Next time will be better. ;)

For a first render it looks awesome! I think it needs much higher sampler values for the blurred reflections. That's why it looks a bit grainy. Try to add to kray's footer importancegammamultiplier 1.4; and then tweak blurring threshold min rays to 5000 and max rays to 100000.
