Deleting all kray plugins for LW and deleting all kray files from the harddisk and then reinstalling did the trick.
Noteworthy: even though I did a search for kray* on my harddrive, WinXP64 did not show the kray plugins in the Newtek/Lightwave folder. Strange. I went to this folder to copy the kray.p file and noticed they were still there so I deleted the files manually. Oh well, it's working now!

...yep standard problem with Lightwave searcher for plugin (should always asks: "add plugin from another catalog then lightwave/plugins?")
