are you running Vista64 or XP64 by any chance, with QT 7.4.1?

Quick update using Skyportals

Ok managed to find sometime to test skyportals on this scene, I decided to make a QTVR instead of a boring still :P Anyway, I split the skyportal "importance" 70:30% between the window and the door as in the real world your more likely to have more natural light coming through the window. ...

And a very good one too.

Ever consider doing a kray orientated version

Very nice animation BTW.

That is exactly the case, you can turn off Sky Portals visibility via the kray sky portal shader, but obviously Weepul's technique would still be useful in light map mode.

What's with the noise over on the left? Something to do with the high backdrop skylight value, I'm going to apply the skylight to a dome and use the limit dynamic range in the KrayIndirectRays shader to see if clamping the value will make a difference, or I might just put a lumi poly in the window....

Howard room

Hi,

Thought I'd try out the latest beta with the famous Brian Howard room.

Scene setup is spotlight for sun with skylight, most surfaces have some sort of reflection blur.

Using medium(ish) kray settings, nothing fancy, rendered on a 8-core MacPro.

Hi Mat,

I don't think you will have a problem with a lower resolution, the GI should be the same, I've tried 1/4 res and did not notice a difference.

If your after a one pass method with Kray you can always try "savegimode 1;"

GI is resolution independent (AFAIK) so it shouldn't be a problem. I've done this in the past and have not had an issue.

That's got to be the most manicured lawn that I've ever seen, but at this res I think there needs to be some more varied grasses at random size and colours, maybe some small flowers and of course what about the insects :P

Or you could just assign the glass geometry in external windows as skyports

Skyports are going to give a hugh boost to render times in photomap mode, can't wait
(not as much as Sliver though :D )

What does mean "Physically incorrect light model in scene with global illumination"?. If you have Ambient light set >0 or any lights not set to ^2 Kray will return this message. This does not change the functionality of kray, just a warning that the lighting in your scene is "less&qu...

Hi, for the kray logo just add "%kray" in the header.

The importance of a Demo is certainly not lost on those who develop Kray. But what should be remembered is that releasing a demo while the software is still in a beta stage can cause more harm than good for the reputation of a fairly young render which must compete with established software. The cur...
