Re: New PC setup recommendation needed
Oh yeah! One important comment: what I wrote above is only valid for PCs. With Mac, always go for the cheapest processor, because the increase in processor speed you get for your money with Apple is very, very disproportionate - and still no i7 processors in their iMacs, after all these years!!!

Re: New PC setup recommendation needed
Honestly, the market has matured so much that it becomes simple: you get what you pay for speedwise: double the money gets you double the operations, and this goes for both CPU and GPU. Personally, after wasting a lot of time looking for the "holy grail" of best price/performance ratio, I ...

Re: Exterior test
The goal is probably only a technical test of K3, but I have to say that the lighting from PhySky2 looks very dull and flat here.

Wow. Beautiful, once again! I like that curtain! Is that actual geometry or an alpha map?

Re: What the heck is QMC?
To put it simply: With QMC, a number if rays is shot from every pixel to calculate the shadow and global illumination for that pixel. It is a "brute force" method because the process is not smart, but very simple: the more rays you shoot for every pixel the better the calculation becomes, ...

Re: Kitchen
V-Ray still has anti-aliasing, so Kray is not alone in this respect!
Then there's the brute force renderers out there, but as we all know that is not the way to go if you are after intelligent speedy rendering.

Hi Janusz,
Are these the QuickLWF and Tonemap Blending parameters you suggest for all images?
Best,
Thomas

Re: Pinterest style.
Amazing work, as always! Also, as you know, I always give one point of critique, no matter how good the work is, to advance even more! So here it is: The iMac immediately catches my attention, telling me that the image is CGI, because: 1) The base of the iMac should be matte aluminium, not chrome 2)...

Re: White corner sofa
I don't think you're understanding my point correctly. The link you posted also shows what I mean, and what looks natural: the exterior "plants through the window" part gets a lot more exposure, relative to the interior lighting, so the dark shadows in the plant become well-exposed and bri...

Lots of 503 errors lately
Hi,
I'm getting a lot of 503 errors when visiting the Kray webpage since about a week or two. Just letting you know.
Cheers,
Thomas

Re: White corner sofa
Basically, try to use HDR photos with detail in the shadows, and don't mix with white. Just raise the luminosity of the surface.
