GIBOX Scene Setup

Hi all, I make this test to see what kray can do with a scene without light. The scene has only a white background. The render time is 27min. But I make some tests and I hasn't got a clean result. Here is the setup and the result. How can I optimize my setup to test a clean result and perhaps a better render time ?

this is the scene that Intuition posted in the Newtek forum. around 2 min on my dualcore AMD 4800+, animation on http://www.newtek.com/forums/showpost.p ... tcount=123 My entry for that was this as you know. I didn't use 1.612 for a year except for that "versioncompare" image I made of that room in the kray gallery.
kray is the best of all in this sort of scene. What do you point to with those white arrows? Your picture is very very dark here anyway, turn up the backdrop color or multiplier in photons tab or exposure in gamma first.
27min on what CPU?

Yes 27 min with amd am2 4200+ dual core, but with the settings of the picture and about 500000 cells. With other settings with 60000 or 80000 cells I get the similar quality and the render time if two or three mins. I'll make more test with multiplier.

It's simple - upgrade to Open beta 2 :)

1.612 is obsolete that's why it's not available as a download anymore. If you want fastest rendering and up to date support get latest version...

Of course, when I tested the 1.7 version and I can see the results. For the moment I can only test the demo with lw9.0. You can make any video tutorial, any docs or anything to show the working of a real test with kray.

Isn't that what I just did in this thread? I showed your scene rendered in kray 1.7 in 2 min and same look as orginal 1 hour maxwell render by Intuition (on faster machine than mine).
Or give another test, been rendering tests since 2005 in kray now and showing them in newtek, modo and cgtalk forums, one more is not gonna hurt me ;)

Hi all, this afternoon I have been playing a while with the demo and the old gibox scene, I think that I can get a better result, but I think that this render time ins't worse because the kray demo don't use my dual core. I think that if the demo version used the dual core I can get with the demo a similar render time of the Erwin test.

Here is the result.

If you are the tinniest bit serious about using kray, I think you should upgrade to 1.7 Beta. The 1.6 demo is so much worse than the current 1.7 beta it's not even funny.

Yes Acid, but I would like to test 1.7 before buy, I usually try the software before.

Here is another test with cache gi and a short clip. Great great for the demo version.

The clip is a little darker, always the clips are darker when I used xvid codec, i don't know why the colors aren't the same in png images and xvid clips.
