hi

I'm new here.
Trying to install Kray demo. I followed the read me file to process. When I press the Krayframe button, it launches the Kray renderer but the problem is when I press the Krayoption button, a message appears: "No plug-in of type MasterHandler found with name Kray. Would you like to load it drom disk?".
I wasn't able to solve that problem though I 'm sure it's quite simple...
Any help?

Hmm Mac or win? Have you added the kray.p to plugins and it's gui-lsc script?
Is the script file in lightwaves \LightWave [9]\Plugins\lscripts catalog?

I m on Win. The kray.p is in the plugins folder and the script file in the lscript folder. But I don't understand what is his "it's gui-lsc script".
I only had 2 files....

Yes Kray.p and kray.ls. Kray.ls is a lightwave scriptfile that provides Kray's graphical userinterface. If you know that you have added these files properly and can see them in the pluginlist but still get an error, try removing your old lightwave configfiles since they sometimes get's corrupted.
I also inklude this from the readme if you have missed that part.

Important:

* Kray will not run on LW version older than 7.5c.
* If you are upgrading from version older that 1.51 please remove Kray from LW's plugins and delete all Kray files before installing new.
* If you are upgrading from 1.51 or later you can simply replace old files with new ones and restart LightWave.
* Kray.ls file must be in LightWave's Lscripts dir.

If you have Kray version 1.506 already installed you need to remove "Kray Frame", "Kray Anim", "Kray Options" plugins before installing this version. Start LightWave and remove "Kray Frame", "Kray Anim", "Kray Options" (Edit-plugins/Layout command).

To install Kray unpack the archive and copy contents of Lscripts dir to directory where LW holds Lscript files ([LW_DIR]/Lscripts dir in LW7 and [LW_DIR]/Plugins/Lscripts in LW8). Also copy contents of Plugins dir LW's plugins dir ([LW_DIR]/Plugins). Now start LW and add Kray.ls from Lscripts and Kray.p from plugins to LW plugins.
Kray.ls contains user interface for Kray (Master class plugin). Kray.p contains render core and 3 generic plugins "KrayFrame", "KrayAnim", "KrayOptions". You can connect them to Layout buttons or assign hot keys. You can also reach Kray through "Master plugins/Add Layout or Scene Master".

thanks but that still doesn t work. I must be missing something or doing something wrong.

These are the steps i go trough:

1/I cleared the LW cfg files.

2/I put Kray LScript file into LWdir/plugins/lscipts

3/I put Kray.p in LWdir/plugins

4/I launch LW

5/I got to the utilities tab then press the LScript button which opens a dialog box: I choose the KrayLscript file; it tells me: "C/[...]/Kray.ls line 8 script type master differs from architecture"

6/I press the "add plugin" button which opens a dialog box: Ichoose the Kray.p plugin; it tells me that 3 plugins have been successfully added.

7/If I press the master plugin button I can't see Kray in the list
If I go to additional in the plugin section I can't see it neither.
To see them, I have to relaunch LW and then They appear in the additional list BUT there is still nothing in theMaster plugin list.

I can launch the frame and animation rendrers but cannot access the option Window: it tells me "no plugin of typemaster handler found with name Kray. Would U like to load it from disk?" (I tried t say yes and select the Kray plugin but with no result...)

I hope I m just being stupid but I doon't understand why it doesn t work.BTW I use LW8.5.

Hmm that's realy weird. By what you just wrote I it should work... You can try and got to "configure menus" (alt+F10) and add a button for "KRay options" (you should find it under "Plug-ins" section) to your menu. Now if it still gives you "no plugin of typemaster handler found with name Kray" press alt+F10 and in your list of plugins check that you have Kray.p and Kray.ls there. If either is missing something must be wrong with your KRay files so try downloading them again.

I did what u said but with no success. I downloaded the installation demo again but same thing.
When I check in alt+F10 my plugin list I have the 3 plugins (KrayAnim, KrayFrame and KrayOptions) and no Kray.p and Kray.ls as u said....
Thanks again but I think my patience is full and I m soon going to quit that Kray idea....

I had done that before but I tried again. It still doesn t work but the message has changed to "cannot run Kray Master script"

Im qurious, what lw version do you use?

You dont need to open up kray.ls as a script in lw. When you run kray render,animate or options KRAY.P will try to locate kray.ls in it's lscripts directory and execute it so you should never execute it manually.

I'm using LW 8.5. I tried to load directly the Kray plugin without pressing the lscript before but it does the same thing: "cannot run...."
It must be something really dumb that I'm missing or doing wrong but.......

I suggest fresh LW install and get latest possible update...

I did a a fresh install of LW 8.5 and installed Kray again but no succes...................................
I MUST do something wrong but can't figure out what precisely...
I think I m tired of trying...I ll try next year.

Well i'm sorry to hear that you haven't had success... It's a mystery to me what's the problem since installation has always been straight forward for all of us...

You should NOT press any lscript or manually run it. When you call upp Kray's gui via masterplugins Kray will look for the script and use it. If you get an error after calling Kray in masterplugins then it might be worth to try this if you get an "Script type 'master' differs from architecture".
