Hi Kray-Community, hi Janusz :-)

Here is a scene i have created for trying to
increase the quality of our output. You can use this scene
for personal learning (not commercial).

http://www.lichtundschatten-3d.de/temp/Basic-Scene.zip

The textures in this scene a scaled down to a lower resolution. Most
of the textures are from cgtextures combined and finished
with personal ideas.(http://www.cgtextures.com/)

The Sofa is a free stuff object from vizpeople
(http://www.viz-people.com/free-stuff). They have it in their
download section. So if u use it please visit their site an
register.

Pictures on the wall are from
http://pinterest.com/queenzofia/a-world-of-people/

The other purpose i posted this scene is that iam quite not
happy about the final result in aspect of realism quality. So it would
be really cool if you try to increase the quality of this scene
and share it with kray-community and me.

One of my favorite wishes would be that you Janusz take a look at
this scene and perhaps does some overwork of this scene/material
and give the community the chance to benefit from your outstanding
knowledge. 8)

Thx a lot

Greetings from Germany
Thomas

Hey!
Thank You for trusting
Will check this scene in free time.
Now i can write some thoughts:
Scene is very basic so effect, is or will be medium (You can not make good render if for example halogens are just basic tubes without mirror inside or shelf and table are empty...is no details ) But I know this is just example for training. And second idea is that , space is just cubic so as design we are on the lost position....Also, probably (will check after download) is bad tonemaping because is no contrast in scene.
But, what I would like to do, is setup of surfaces because this is the most important thoughts + add some fresh ideas with tonemping

i've delete the light in lamp i think a good idea is ies

thank's for sharing we need to study study study study!!!

My settings for tonemap blending. Is this ok or does someone has an idea how
to improve output result?

I think is very good. I would like change two parameters:
1. LWF gamma should be same in PARAMETER (if you keep 2.2 then keep BOTH)
2. Parametr in exponential You can rise up even to 20 or more (LWF gamma corrects very strong textures and colors and to bright up scene You can use Parametr from exponential - this is kind of curve...so do not be afraid use high value) 8)

Hi Janusz. Thx for your answer. The Values for LWF gamma is now the same. I´ve made some test with higher Parameter for exponential but there was no improvement from my point of view.

Further i have tried some animated curtains. With some more work i think the result is very good. Here is some very very short output.
But in Open GL in movement it looks fine for me.
http://www.lichtundschatten-3d.de/temp/ ... t_test.mov

Iam also testing with animated backgrounds. To reduce polys and render time i have tried to make some motion with 2D-Images of cutout trees. Nothing highend but i´ll next time try to integrate it in next test.
http://www.lichtundschatten-3d.de/temp/Tree-Animat.mov

But i have some problems to get the rendertime of the whole animation under control. So the first time with medium quality of HD720 output the rendertime was 40min. But when i render the animation with "update" gi modus with animation over night there were some big problems and the rendertime increases from 40min to about 2.5 hours. At the end of every frame of rendering when the antialising is done it says 100% done but in preview window u can see that the last lines are still in progress and Lightwave freezes for about an hour or more. I do not know whats the reason for that.

Another problem is, that i still have no workflow to render an animation with animated objects, like the curtain on rendernetwork. Can anybody again give me a good step by step hint how to get good results with animated objects and if possible not to much post work. ?

thx :-) 8)

Greetings

Propably You have problem with power of light and surfacing (I use LWF Gamma 2.2 with exponential parameter 10-20, Blending 75%...and this looks perfect...)

There is problem with Kray and also with your setup
1. Kray because always was problem with render small complex objects (leafs, grass, etc...)...why we wait for Kray 3.o with better sampling in small complex regions and better AA.
2. Maybe You used full GI on the leafs, You should use QMC shader ~100/0 or low Full GI shader 0/0.
3. If was freeze probably You used shared GI option which is quite dangerus (You should use LOAD option, it`s save)
Another problem is, that i still have no workflow to render an animation with animated objects, like the curtain on rendernetwork. Can anybody again give me a good step by step hint how to get good results with animated objects and if possible not to much post work. ?
Well animation is quite complex problem. If You have moving objects You should use LOAD with ALLOW ANIMATION option or better TIME INTERPOLATION (before You MUST save photon map! and after use LOAD option)
All my answers You can read in "bible" Kray Wiki page :)
