Anyone tried using the instance in LW11 and then render in Kray?

It won't work. You have to wait for Kray 2.5 update that will include LW11 instancing support.

I'm really longing to get my hands on 2.5
I am working on a huge scene, it take 1.2 hrs to load in 9.6 / 45 mn in 10.1 and 20 mn in LW11!
When on the renderfarm, imagine the gains!!! For me today it's a nightmare that 10.1 isn't supported fully by LWSN because I would gain some precious hours.
Also, it's awesome to be able to see instances in the layout for the sake of camera placement.
Denis Pontonnier has made a great controller for instances that goes far beyond what LW11 controller can do.

I know there is no schedule, but is there any ideal time you want to release it?

Do you think it will be able to render Flocking?
If yes, will we need to bake animations with mdd?

I haven't really had a chance to check that yet. If you send me a simple scene I can test it...
