Chinese Mosque - Architectural Competition

Hey guys, :D

If I'm not mistaken, this project took almost a month to finish . It's supposedly to be done by mid of last month but postponed to later date & due to commitment for other rushing project (NanoMalaysia Centre - Animation). It took almost 2 weeks , non-stop for the rendering. I'm actually not really interested to do this kind of project as it's not a huge or mega building. Nevertheless, here one of the final images. I will upload the animation on youtube soon.

Feel free to comment

Hey nice work again! May I ask how do you do texturing of the roads?

Thanks again Jure.

For the road texture, I used Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator. Make an UV atlas in LW then open it in Photoshop. Just play with the multiple texture in Photoshop ( I used 4-5 different layers/texture) and save as then open it in Illustrator to make a white line, yellow line of the road. :D

Cool. what was the size of the texture then?

The size of the texture was about 10,000 x 10,000 (if I'm not mistaken  ). Actually It's depends how big the surface objects. It's really huge size but I just purchased the infinimap pro that can reduce the amount of memory (after I finish this animation). :)

Anyway this is the link for the animation

Hey Jure,

I've a question here about kray instance. Do kray instance has a preview display like a HD instance?

No, but you can use HDinstance or DPinstance plugin to preview Kray instances...

How to do that?

Anyway I just fixed the youtube problem so maybe you can give some comment on that. :)

Thanks.

You this by applying DPinstance plugin to your object and set same settings as in Kray Instances panel. And in Volumetrics panel do not add "DP Instance" plugin. This way Kray instances will render and DPinstance will not. The same instructions apply for HD instance.

Man, there *has* to be an easy way to do those damned roads. I mean, Azman's idea obviously works, but it sounds very time-consuming and I really wouldn't want to end up with a 10k map... LWCAD's road tool works very well but only up to a point - I had to do some truly large-scale roads recently and for some reason LWCAD doesn't like it when they're longer than, say, 1 or 2 km, plus it's all geometry anyway and at those sizes the polycount gets scary rather quickly. UV and rail extrude only work when you're building from scratch, but when you have complicated layouts full of roundabouts and sudden corners it all goes to hell... oh, I hate roads. I suppose I'm gonna have to get infinimap too :P

ADP.

Yeah I hate roads too.. LWCAD does good job as far as modeling goes but texturing has always been a b****. I usualy export top view UV to photoshop then do couple of layers and bluring to get dirt and stuff. I do roadmarks in 3D though. Problem is once your terrain is not flat then things get complicated.

Yes, I'm agreed with both of you guys..you forget to mention 1 more thing. the road kerb also. i hope infinimap pro will be easy & fast to render the high resolution images. ;)

Anyway Jure, when the Kray version 3.0 will be release? I hope the rendering will be much faster and they have a new plug-in to make a grass easily. :) Can't wait.

I don't know yet, it's still in deep development. We will release small update to 2.2 first...
